29.10.2023

Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Turkish Republic is Being Proud of What Was Accomplished for Türkiye

Celebrating the 100th anniversary of Türkiye's Republic is a momentous occasion that not only marks a century of progress and innovation but also highlights the remarkable contributions made by country’s assets like HAVELSAN to the nation's growth and development. Over its 41-years old history, HAVELSAN has played a pivotal role in advancing Türkiye's technological landscape in various domains, leaving a lasting impact on the nation's journey.

HAVELSAN's contributions to Türkiye's defense capabilities have been substantial. The Electronic Warfare Test and Training Range (EWTTR) which was born in 1996 has provided invaluable electronic warfare training for aircraft pilots. By creating an integrated, fully instrumented, and realistic threat environment, HAVELSAN enabled pilots to study operational scenarios and implement them effectively. Moreover, the F16 Avionics-OFP/SIL project which was undertaken between 1997 and 1999 further enhanced the mission software of Türkiye's Air Force Command's combat aircrafts, incorporating new sensors and munitions. These advancements significantly bolstered Türkiye's defense capabilities.

Tukiyes Technology Progress 1

In 2003, HAVELSAN introduced the Peace Eagle Aerial Early Warning and Control System, a vital asset for the Air Forces Command. This system provided Airborne Warning and Control (AIC) capabilities, while including C4ISR solutions. It served as the command and control center in the skies, managing air operations, decision-making, and intelligence through advanced technologies. In the same year, the Meltem Project, that was carried out in collaboration with partners like THALES, contributed to the development and installation of the TCS mission system software. These efforts fortified the capabilities of the Ground System and Simulation Training System for defense operations.

Tukiyes Technology Progress 2

Apart from defense, HAVELSAN played a crucial role in enhancing governance and administrative processes. The National Judicial Network Project (UYAP), which was initiated in 2000, was a significant milestone in digitizing judicial and administrative activities. It streamlined operations within the Ministry of Justice and its affiliated organizations while integrating external units with public institutions. This system has proved how judicial and administrative processes were conducted, bringing efficiency and transparency to Türkiye's legal system.

HAVELSAN's contributions extended to aviation training with the introduction of the CN-235 Full Flight Simulator in 2001. This simulator, was initially developed for the Turkish Air Forces Command, then exported to the South Korean Air Force, marking Türkiye's first simulator export. The simulator, meeting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) D Series standard, offered superior features. It facilitated training for both domestic and international military pilots, strengthening Türkiye's military aviation capabilities.

Tukiyes Technology Progress 3

TAKBIS, a project that was initiated in 2001, played a crucial role in modernizing land registration and management while reducing bureaucracy. Under the General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre, TAKBIS digitized land registry records, established their topologies, integrated them with geographical information systems, and developed relevant software. This project not only improved the reliability and efficiency of land registration system but also aimed to enhance citizens’ satisfaction through better data sharing with other public institutions and organizations.

One of HAVELSAN's notable contributions was the Election Information System (SEÇSİS), which was introduced in 2005. SEÇSİS became the backbone for conducting various election-related tasks, from producing and storing information and documents electronically to securely updating voter registers and sharing election results with political parties. This system not only streamlined the election process but also received recognition, winning the "International Choice Award" in 2013 for its excellence.

In 2005, HAVELSAN initiated the GENESIS Combat Management System (CMS) project to modernize the CMS of G-Class frigates. This project involved the development of adaptation units to integrate weapons, sensors, and electronic systems into the GENESIS CMS, allowing for efficient data sharing and tactical coordination. As a result of the continious development and innovation culture of the company a new technologic level was attained with ADVENT CMS, HAVELSAN’s Network Supported Data Integrated Combat Management System. HAVELSAN's contribution to naval systems was further exemplified in the development of the HAVELSAN Sonar Integrated Submarine Command and Control System (SEDA) which processed data from acoustic and non-acoustic sensors for underwater platforms. SEDA improved target detection, tracking, and the deployment of weapons.

Tukiyes Technology Progress 4

HAVELSAN took pilot training to new heights in 2005 with the Helicopter Simulators Project (HELSİM). This project involved constructing flight training simulators and facilities for the Land Forces Command and Naval Forces Command, encompassing various helicopter models. These simulators provided a risk-free and cost-effective environment for training, contributing to the skills development of Türkiye's helicopter pilots.

In 2016, HAVELSAN embraced the task of protecting Türkiye's critical infrastructure with the BOTAŞ Security project. Under this project, critical pipelines and facilities were protected against threats like terrorism, sabotage, theft, and unauthorized excavations. HAVELSAN introduced an integrated security system to ensure 24/7 protection.

In 2017, HAVELSAN embarked on an international endeavour with the Joint Warfare Training Center (JWTC) project. This initiative provided a foreign Armed Forces with advanced training and exercise capabilities. HAVELSAN established a state-of-the-art training center with tailored software solutions, strengthening Türkiye's presence on the global stage.

Tukiyes Technology Progress 5

The year 2018 witnessed the introduction of the Straits and Vessel Traffic Management System (HAVELSAN VTS). This advanced system employed cutting-edge technologies to ensure safe and efficient vessel navigation. It became instrumental in monitoring and managing vessel traffic movements, particularly in areas with heavy traffic, such as ports and straits.

HAVELSAN's commitment to enhancing Türkiye's security infrastructure continued with the National Biometric Data Management Project in 2019. This system aimed at nationalizing biometric technologies and create a national repository for biometric data. It encompassed fingerprint recognition, palm prints, vein recognition, face recognition, iris recognition, retina recognition, and voice recognition, bolstering identity and security measures.

In 2020, HAVELSAN ventured into the realm of autonomous robotics with the Digital Troops Technology. This groundbreaking project enabled autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles, land vehicles, and sea vehicles to arrive on the modern battlefield. The technology's swarm algorithms facilitated joint activities and enhanced coordination among autonomous robotic systems.

Tukiyes Technology Progress 6

Also in 2020, HAVELSAN contributed to Türkiye's air strength vision through the National Combat Aircraft (MMU) Project. This collaborative effort aimed at developing Türkiye's first indigenous combat aircraft, reinforcing the nation's defense capabilities. HAVELSAN's involvement in this project since its conceptual design phase in 2011 marked a significant step toward achieving Türkiye's air strength aspirations.

In conclusion, as Türkiye celebrates its 100th Republic Day, HAVELSAN stands as one of the key actors in driving nation's progress and innovation. Over four decades, HAVELSAN's unwavering commitment to enhancing defense capabilities, improving governance, advancing aviation training, and pioneering emerging technologies has left a profound mark on Türkiye's journey. The organization's contributions have been integral to the nation's growth, aligning with the principles of the Turkish Republic's founder, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who envisioned a modern and technologically advanced Türkiye. HAVELSAN's endevours are not only reflections of Türkiye's dedication to excellence but also the proof of its readiness to embrace the challenges of the future.

Happy 100th Anniversary of the Turkish Republic.
