In addition to pilot Multi-Functional Displays (MFDs), military and civilian air platforms are equipped with special-purpose mission screens. These screens, covering a wide range of tasks, are primarily utilized by support or special mission personnel.
Tactical and special purpose mission displays are used in two areas, namely military and civilian. For military purposes they are used on Fixed Wing Air Vehicles (Intelligence, Surveillance, Patrol, Patrol, Jamming, Electronic Warfare Platforms, Special Purpose Cargo, Personnel Transport and Tanker Platforms) and Rotary Wing Platforms (Utility Helicopters, Search and Rescue Helicopters, Special Purpose Personnel Transport and Supply Helicopters) and for civilian purposes, these platforms are versatile and cater to a wide range of missions, falling into two main categories: Fixed-Wing Aircraft (Special Purpose and VIP Platforms, Ambulance Aircraft, Fire-Fighting Aircraft, Passenger Aircraft) and Rotary-Wing Platforms (ambulance helicopters, search and rescue helicopters, humanitarian aid helicopters, fire-fighting helicopters, and humanitarian aid and evacuation helicopters).
The platforms operated and tested so far include AIRBUS A321 and AIRBUS A350 aircraft, Sikorsky S-70 and MIL MI-17 helicopters.
